Mercedes Sheldon

My passion for communication arts led me into both teaching and content work. I love the power of language: how it can carry nuance and beauty, how it can persuade, and how it can touch the reader.
As a content writer, I craft language that captures your voice in a powerful, persuasive way. Writing Right is about presenting your ideas and your thoughts to your audience in the best, most polished way. Whether you have a handful of loosely connected ideas or existing content that needs to be reshaped, let me shape the language for you!
As a copy editor, I strive to help others’ writing capture their reader, both through word choice and usage. A misplaced comma, an unintended connotation, a simple homophone-based spelling error may lead to a lost costumer, a lost opportunity, or an inaccurate perception. Writing Right is about avoiding such mistakes and, therefore, such losses.
“Mercedes provides a vital and valuable service, and her work improves both what I say and how I say it.” ~ Morgan G.

Did you know that...
✦ British English and American English differ in many ways, not just in spelling. For instance, Americans treat the words like “family” as a singular word (The family is...), while the British treat them as a plural word (The family are...).
✦ The word “welcome” was originally two words: well come. “Well” is an adverb; in this case, it modified the verb “come.” In other words, you were well come to a person’s home or castle.
